How to Remove or Replace your Bearings & Wheels.

Follow the steps below to remove & replace your Bearings or Wheels. Over time bearings and wheels wear out. Bearings can grind making noise, spacers can rattle and wheels, especially your drive wheel can wear out. Note that wheels wear out faster if you are doing burn outs or doing a lot of slides. So it's pretty common that you'll have to go through this process sooner or later to properly maintain your board.

Tools needed: 1/2" Socket/Socket Driver.

Step 1: Use a 1/2" socket/socket driver to remove the nut and slide off the wheel.
Step 2: To remove the bearings from the wheel use the end of the axle by inserting it about the depth of the bearing then use axle to pry/lever it out of the wheels. Or you can also push the bearing out from the other side with a tool.
Tech Tip - Note that there are more than one size of bearings that are used on different boards. This will depend on the year or model of your board. Also, not all 600 watt models use wheels with bearings that have the same OD (Outside Diameter). The gold shielded bearing above is an example of the smaller OD. All Raptor 4.0 & X-24's use these smaller bearings, but most the newer 600's use the larger silver ones... but not all. If you need to buy bearings, give us a call and let us know more about your board to help us get you the right replacements.
Step 3: Next, flip the wheel to the front side and pry/lever out the other bearing.
Tech Tip - Every wheel has (2) Bearings, one on each side and a spacer (the tube in the middle of them), on each wheel. There's also a washer that goes on the axle first and a smaller "Speed Washer" that goes on after the wheel is placed on the axle.
Step 4: Next press in a NEW or CLEANED bearing into the backside of the wheel.
Step 5: Then flip the wheel over and drop in the spacer tube. Note sometimes spacers rattle/make noise, if so they maybe too short and they are vibrating between the bearings.
Step 6: Then Press in the front side bearing.
Step 7: To install the wheel, first slide on a washer onto the axle.
Step 8: Then guide the wheel onto the axle. Sometimes you have to jiggle the wheel around and it takes a moment to line up the spacer with the bearings to get the wheel to side on.
Step 9: Then put on the smaller Speed Ring washer.
Step 10: Followed by putting on the 1/2" wheel nut.
Step 11: Then snug up your wheel by tightening the wheel nut.
Step 12: Spin the wheel and jiggle it to make sure it's properly set. The wheel should not have any slop side to side but it also should spin. Note if you over tighten the wheel it will NOT spin.

CLEANING YOUR BEARINGS:

Cleaning bearings is easy to do and is recommended when they get noisy or aren't spining nicely. Note sometimes it's better to go ahead and just replace them. Here's a couple You Tube videos that will take you through the process. Click Here
