How to Open & Close your Battery Box
Opening & Closing the Battery Box is an intermediate process that doesn't require much knowledge. It's a common trouble-shooting step and it enables you to access and/or switch out the batteries, when their life-span is used up. Please note, it can be a little challenging from time to time. For many, it's something that's only done by a technician. Still sometimes it needs to be done outside the repair/service center and it's relatively easy to do by following the steps below.
Tools needed: 5/32" or 4mm hex, 11/16th socket/wrench, large flat head screwdriver.
| Step 1: Turn the board onto it's deck and pull both Grenade-Style Pull Pins and lift open the battery box. |
| Step 2: If it's difficult to detach, take a moment to loosen the (4) bolts that hold on the DCM case (Motor Controller Box). This will make it much easier to detach, note on many models you need to do this, especially on models with concaved decks. |
| Step 3: Flip over the Battery Box and you can now inspect connections and/or change out your batteries. |
| Step 4: Make sure all connections are secure. This is a common solution, for sometimes the batteries disconnect during shipping or when riding it. |
| Tech Tip - If the batteries move around or have disconnected from movement inside the box, we recommend stuffing polyethylene foam or some styrofoam between the batteries to prevent this. |
| Step 5: Before putting the box back in place, make sure you've loosened the (4) DCM bolts as in Step 2 above. |
| Step 6: Place the Battery Box into place, sliding it below the heat sink on the DCM. |
| Step 7: Let the battery box rest on the brackets. Note, many times the pull pins will not line up for the it will take a little "Body English" to push it back into place. |
| Step 8: Pull the pins outward so that the case drops up against the deck. |
| Step 9: Push back on the case to get it to line up. |
| Step 9 Continued: Sometimes a flat head screw driver will help lever/push the Battery Box back to line it up with the bracket holes. If the pins aren't going into the bracket holes but seam to be close, a light tap with a mallet on the pins should do the trick. |
Step 10: If your still having trouble, please be patient. Flip the board back over and now loosen the (4) bolts that hold on the brackets using a smaller, 3mm hex wrench. This will give you more slack/play and it should do the job.
| Step 10 Continued: Flip the board over and try it again. After the Battery Box is in place, make sure to tighten all (8) Bolts and your ready to Rock & Roll! |
